RESTORING TRACTORS FOR OVER 9 YEARS!

Levi Wicks

I started restoring tractors in 2014 doing our family farms Farmall 706 diesel as a 4-H project. Growing up on the farm, I learned mechanics from watching my dad and grandpa in the shop, and I learned painting mostly by self practice.

The next year I restored an Allis Chalmers C. Both of these tractors had started in running condition. After that, I determined I was ready for a larger scale project and decided to restore the Farmall H that my great grandpa had bought new and had never left the farm. After all, both my grandpa and my dad had grown up using this tractor, and I thought it would be cool to have it going again. The kicker was, the tractor had burned in my dads shop fire in 1997, and sat out in the pasture until 2016. That was by far my largest project, leaving absolutely no bolt left unturned. To complete this project required several parts tractors, and so after that, I decided to sell used parts from the parts tractors I had left over.

From there, I moved into restoring an Oliver 1855 diesel for a family friend, a Super M, and then an Allis Chalmers WD45. At the same time, the salvage side of my business grew as I would buy lots of cheap Farmalls to part out or fix and sell.
